Lung Cancer survivor center and training facility
Budget Required (USD): $750,000
Seeking: Funding, Publicity, Resources, Sponsorship
Offering: Advertising opportunity
Proposal: The GFLCCO(Giardina Family Lung Cancer Cure Organization) is a non for profit seeking to purchase a 1 acre plot of land on which to build it's first survivor center for cancer survivors to assist post treatment patients in re-adjusting to their lifestyles. This facility would also serve as a training center and home office for the GFLCCO. The GFLCCO was founded primarily to assist in raising funding for lung cancer research but also serves to inform the general public and assist patients and their loved ones as they proceed through treatment. The center would be the first of it's kind offering counseling in areas from stress to depression, diet and exercise classes, support groups, medical advisers, alternative medicines, etc. This facility will serve as the prototype for future facilities to be located by major cancer treatment facilities nation wide. We have met with the USDA Dept of Rural Development and feel we would be eligible to seek further benefits in the form of secured loans and grant funding with an initial investment in place. Sponsorship on an on going basis would allow us to focus our energy on further fund raising, and ensuring our missions were being met.
About me:
I have 22 years of large facility management with a global retailer. In the early spring of 2007 I was diagnosed and began treatment for inoperable small cell lung cancer. In the fall of 2008 I was forced to retire due to the ongoing cancer battle and after effects of treatment. In January of 2009 my wife and I formed the GFLCCO in an effort to help raise funding for lung cancer research and to help educate the general public and assist lung cancer patients and their loved ones as they proceed through treatment. We are currently active in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Florida and are in desperate need of appropriate offices and training facilities. The "survivor's clinic" Or (Post cancer treatment facility) if you prefer, concept would fill a huge void left after treatment has concluded when a patient is becoming a person once again. Cancer treatments can be extremely harsh on you physically as well as emotionally these are things I've learned first hand. The remainder of my life is dedicated to helping people survive lung cancer and return to as normal of a life as one can. I need financing and support to make this all possible.
